XRP is not mined in the traditional sense because it does not use a blockchain. Instead, XRP was created by Ripple Labs Inc. and all of the XRP in existence are owned by Ripple Labs. Some people refer to this process as "pre-mining" because Ripple Labs had a head start on acquiring xrp before it was released to the public.
