Technically, non-fungible tokens can be copied, but the copy wouldn't have any real value. Think of it this way: if you copy a dollar, you still only have one dollar. But if you copy a unique diamond, you now have two diamonds (assuming you didn't destroy the original in the process). This is because diamonds are unique and non fungible, while dollars are interchangeable and fungible. This distinction is important because it's what makes blockchain-based tokens so valuable. Each token is unique and can't be replaced by another token, which means they can be used for trading goods and services without fear of counterfeit.
